Margaret (Peggy) Hammill (McIver)

Margaret (Peggy) Hammill (McIver)

Peggy’s death occurred peacefully at home, with family, in Lower Freetown on Sunday, September 18, 2022, in her 82nd year. Peggy will be remembered for her warm smile, welcoming demeanor, positive attitude, family commitment, boundless energy, and relentless determination. She always found the positive in everyone and welcomed them into her life. Her home or cottage was the center of family gatherings – for which she cherished – and there was always room for one more at the table to enjoy her delicious meals.  Peggy was born in Newton, PEI, and was the daughter of the late Aidan and Ethel McIver. Peggy is survived by her husband Maurice Thibault and was the proud mother of Marlene (David) Nicholson, Donna Hammill (Brian Chamberlain), Jackie Hammill (Gavin Cate), Kevin (Patty) Hammill, and her wonderful grandchildren, Suzanne Nicholson, Johnathan (Rachel) Nicholson, Brittney Chalk, Connor Chalk, Taylor Hammill, and Sydney Hammill. In addition, Peggy is survived by her sisters and brothers, Elizabeth McIver, William (Isabel) McIver, David (Sylvia) McIver, Donald McIver (Arlene Ramsey), Frederick (Donna) McIver, and Paula Aylward; brother and sisters-in-law, Ronnie Landry, Betty and Les Smith, Paula and Eric Arsenault, Doreen Hammill (Bob Seiler) Dianne and Bernie Lutes, Bernadette and Allan Murnaghan, Corrine and Steve Meek, Edith Hammill and brothers and sisters of the Thibault Family and Maurice’s son Craig (Karen). Peggy will be sadly missed by her family and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and numerous friends and acquaintances. She was predeceased by her first husband Leslie Hammill, her parents, her sister Ann Landry, father and mother-in-law Austin and Marion Hammill, and brother-in-law Desmond Hammill and William Aylward. We would also like to thank mom’s wonderful caregivers especially Cheryl and Sharon for their constant dedication and willingness to be on call for any emergency.
